Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you spell your name "Mylene" Sheath instead of "Myelin" Sheath?

Well look at you smarty pants! We get this question pretty often. Here's the dilly: The name is simply spelled the way it was taught to one of us in a cognitive development course in college. We were learning about the brains ability to retain information and transmit thoughts, etc. So inevitably we used that spelling when we started forming the initial ideas for the label and everything. It actually wasn't until much later that we ever even saw the generally accepted spelling of "Myelin". But rather than change the name to that way of spelling it, we decided to keep it this way since this is the way we were taught about it and were inspired to use it. Also, it makes search engines our best friend ;)

Are you guys a truly "independent" record label?

In every single aspect. We have absolutely no ties what-so-ever to any major label. Even our retail distributor, Redeye Distribution, is 100% independent, owned and operated by it's original founders and their employees to this day. There is zero assistance in our operation from Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group or the EMI Group.

How can my band get signed to The Mylene Sheath?

We no longer accept physical demos. The best way to reach out to us is to simply email us a link to your Bandcamp page. You can email links to info@themylenesheath.com. Please just send us one email, don't follow up with us a bunch of times and get mad and call us names or tell us we've "sold out" if we haven't had a chance to respond. We spend 99.99% of our day servicing the bands already signed to the label, and we simply don't have the time to respond to every demo submission. If we think we can work together, we'll get back in touch with you.

How do you package your orders / How long will my order take to get to me?

We package all of our orders with bubble wrap and sturdy LP mailers made by Whiplash. We also take the LP out of the jacket and place it behind the jacket within the polybag, to ensure the vinyl does not split the jacket seams or spine while in transit to you. Orders are generally processed, packed up and shipped out within 72 hours of receiving payment, and you receive an email with a tracking number once it ships out so that you can track it en route to you. Sometimes our order volume is higher, and it can take a little bit longer to process and ship orders occasionally. After your package leaves our facility the travel time becomes dependent on the USPS. Domestic shipments normally take anywhere from 2-9 days depending on location, and international orders take anywhere from 6-10 days.

I've placed an order and changed my mind. Can I cancel my order for a refund?

All sales are final. In unique situations we will work with you to come up with a mutual resolution. But if you've simply changed your mind after ordering, we cannot just cancel your order and refund your money.

Who is Boris?

He is pure evil...

I received my order and my records were already open and the LP's were outside of the jacket! I thought I was ordering a brand new unplayed record! What gives??

Don't worry. It is most certainly a brand new, unplayed record. And we take the LP's out of the jackets to ensure they don't slam into the jacket seams and split them during transit. Which is a common day-ruiner with shrink-wrapped records. You're welcome :)

You shipped my item, but as you can see when you check the tracking number, I have never received it. I want a refund.

We are not responsible for the items damaged or lost in transit. Once we hand packages over to the post office, it's out of our hands. That being said, it totally sucks when this happens. So if you're nice and don't threaten us or call us names, we'll more than likely work something out with you - because it's not your fault either.

Who is the "Sheath Sheriff"? And what is the "Daddy Distro"?

The "Sheath Sheriff" is Lindsay's dad. He will usually buy a couple copies of every record we release when they go up for pre-order. He then puts them in what he calls the "Daddy Distro". Then later on to help us out he will have us sell some of his copies online and let us reinvest any cash received into upcoming releases. He's been involved with the label since its inception and a constant source of advice & support. He also goes by "Cowboy".

I want to place an order, but you only accept Paypal as a payment option. What the hell?

You are not required to have an account with Paypal to make a payment with a credit card. Just enter the information the same as you would with any other payment gateway. maybe we'll add other options in the future, but for now it's Paypal all day baby!
